Part 29 New Jersey
Ashley stood in the bride's room at the back of the church while Christy fussed over her dress. Instead of white, she chose Ivory. The dress was a full length, satin strapless A - line with a draped front and sweep train. The Cathedral veil was held in place by a beautiful pearl extender that sat like a crown on top of her head. She wore Ivory matte gloves that came up above her elbows. She looked like a princess.
Leigh Anna, who was five years old today, was sitting on a bench gazing up at her in awe.
“Mommy what time is it?” She asked Ashley.
Ashley looked over at her and smiled. “It's almost time.”
Leigh Anna was excited that on her birthday, she was going to be a flower girl and her mommy and daddy were getting married. She had to have a dressed that matched Ashley's and she had to have a basket of pedals so she could toss them on the ground when she walked down the aisle.
"We need to get that train laying just right for you. It's your wedding day and you have to look your best," Christy said to Ashley.
She took one look at the somber expression on Ashley's face and was overcome with sadness for her friend. She smiled and tried to cheer her up.
"I know you'd like it if your father was here to support you but it won't be so bad having Richie's dad walk you down the aisle. Smile Ashley, you're not supposed to look like you dread this day."
“Mommy you look beautiful,” Leigh Anna said grinning.
A smile graced Ashley's face and they turned to go out the door. Leigh Anna stood beside her mother as Christy opened the door. Ashley's face went blank.
"I hope I'm not too late."
Doc stood there dressed in a black tuxedo smiling up at his daughter. "Can I walk you down the aisle?"
Seeing her father standing there made the words stick in her throat. All Ashley was able to do was smile and nod as she slipped her arm into his. Doc watched Leigh Anna walk in front of Ashley. It was the first time he had ever seen his grand-daughter. Tears welled up in his eyes and he tried hard not to let them fall. He placed his other hand on top of Ashley's hand that was resting on his arm. They both smiled at each other.
Dave was sitting at a piano to the left of the alter, dressed in a black tuxedo playing music as the guests took their seats. On cue he began to play a song that he had wrote. Ashley had chosen it for her Maid of Honor to walk down the aisle.
Christy smiled, as she slowly walked down the aisle towards the alter. She took her place facing Jon and Richie and then turned to see Leigh Anna walking down the aisle, delicately placing the flower pedals along the aisle way. Family and friends smiled. Leigh Anna looked like Ashley, but had a hint of her father's smile.
When Leigh Anna stood in front of Christy, Ashley and Doc started towards them. Ashley walked with her head held high, her manner was so regal one would have thought she was a princess. She smiled brightly at Jon standing at the front of the church looking her way. If someone told her this would have happened when she stepped off the plane in Denver she would have thought them nuts.
As they got closer her nervousness grew, after today she'd be married to the man she fell in love with and she was still shocked that it happened as it did. Just before the alter, Doc kissed her cheek then Jon took her hand and winked as he slid his arm around her waist.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked, his blue eyes twinkling.
"Yes," she answered.
He leaned over and kissed her cheek then whispered something in her ear.
"Jerk," she said so softly with a small laugh.
She walked to the alter laughing inside. When she got there, Christy took her bouquet and her husband to be took both her hands and looked deep into her eyes. He leaned over and kissed her, not waiting for the traditional; 'you may kiss the bride.'
Before he turned back to the priest he whispered, "Don't tell me Jon tried to convince you he was the best man."
"He tried but we both know who the only man for me is," she said as she gently squeezed Richie's hand and turned to hear the words that would begin the rest of their life.

Ashley's story chapter 27
Part 271/22/88 Vancouver, Canada
The next morning Ashley got up early with Richie. They showered and dressed, then ate breakfast in their room. By 9:00 AM she had accompanied him to the studio.
Jon smiled as he saw how happy they were together when they strolled in, hand in hand. He saw the look on Dave's face and remembered that he was the only one that knew about their relationship. Dave was staring at them, and the room got very quiet as the other's turned around and saw them.
Richie paid no attention to anything but Ashley. He smiled at her then, still holding her hand, leaned forward, bending his head and kissed her on the lips.
That's when Obie spit out his coffee. The room filled with laughter.
Richie snickered. “What's wrong Obie?”
Dave shook his head. “Since when did you two start kissing each other?”
Ashley turned her head in Dave's direction. Her face flushed when she smiled. Richie looked down at Ashley and winked.
He then looked back at Dave and smiled. “Since we decided we are more then just friends.”
Dave's mouth dropped open Obie just sat beside Jon shaking his head. Tico, who had been on the couch this whole time, didn't say anything.
Alec smiled. “That's great! Congratulations to the both of you.”
Ashley sat down in the chair along the back of the mixing room as Richie took a seat beside Jon. He spun around in his chair and smiled at Ashley as Jon told him he had just written a new song and he wanted Richie to hear it.
“Actually, Dave and I had been working on the music yesterday,” Jon said as he picked up the acoustic guitar that was resting beside him.
Dave shook his head. “This song makes perfect sense to me now.”
Jon smiled. “Good”
Dave began to play the intro on keyboard and Jon strummed the guitar.
“I don't need a license, to sign on no line. I don't need a preacher to tell me your mine. I don't need no diamonds; I don't need a new bride. I just need you to look me in the eye.
I know they have a hard time, your daddy don't approve. I don't need your daddy telling us what we should do. There's a million questions I could ask about our lives, but I only need one answer to get me through the night.
Can you tell me where we fit in. I call it love they call it living in sin. Is it just you and me or this world we live in. We are living on love; they say we are living in sin.”
Richie gave Ashley a knowing smile and glance. She laughed, her cheeks turned pink from the adulation that she and Richie's relationship was getting.
“Is it right for both our parents to fight it out most nights, then pray for god's forgiveness when they both turn out the lights. Or wear the ring of diamond, when your heart is made of stone. Is right to hold you and kiss your lips good night, that promise is forever if you sign it on the dotted line.”
“I'm thinking solo here, and then finish it out with the chorus, maybe something a little more.” Jon said to Richie.
When he finished the song, he looked up and smiled and sat his guitar down. Dave sat down and crossed his arms.
Ashley's heart was in her throat, but the smile on her lips was all Jon needed. Jon had a great way of taking it and making it seem so Romeo and Juliet sounding.
“So, you both approve?” Jon asked as he looked at Richie and then Ashley.
Richie didn't know how to respond, so he looked to Ashley for the answer. She felt her turn from pink to red. She could barely look at Jon when she nodded her head.
Jon laughed but didn't say anything. Luckily for Ashley the song was put to rest for the day and they went back to recording the other songs they had wrote. By lunch time they ordered Chinese food and then the guys went back to recording. Obie, Jon and Richie explained a lot of the process to Ashley. Her admiration for Richie grew seeing him so involved in working. It was different then seeing him play live. She had fallen in love with him all over again, reminding herself of all the things she loved about him and now the list was longer.
Days went by and Ashley was enjoying the time she spent with Richie in the studio. It was so natural for them not to hide their feelings any longer. Spending more time with him, Ashley saw a different man then what she had known before. He definitely showed her how much he loved her. Each moment with him he had to touch her in some way, whether it was with his hand on her back, his arm around her, or just holding her hand.
Everything couldn't have been more perfect. During some down time, Richie nestled up to Ashley on the couch waiting for things to get started. He stretched out and Ashley laid down between his legs her back facing him her head resting against his chest. She was flipping through Rolling Stone Magazine, Richie looking over her shoulder as Dave was sitting on the table directly beside them trying to talk them into going out after they got done at the studio that night.
“Come on guys,” Dave kept saying.
Richie laughed, “Get Al to go with you.”
Dave hung his head. “It was fun the last time we went out,” He mumbled then rose his head back up. “Were you two going at it then?”
Ashley laughed and covered her face with the magazine.
Richie winked at Dave, “In so many words, yes we were.”
Ashley pulled the magazine away from her face and held it up as she tried to read an article about the latest movies, but the conversation around her was making that impossible
Dave shook his head again. “I just can't believe I never knew it. You two did a good job not letting on.”
Obie turned around. “I knew what you two were up to. I just kept my mouth shut and minded my own business,” he said as he picked up another piece of pizza.
Richie laughed at him. “Yeah okay, whatever you say.”
“No, I'm serious,” he said pushing his glasses back on his nose. “I could tell. That's why Ashley wouldn't have anything to do with Jason.”
Ashley smiled to herself. Then he continued. “Although, I am confused about that night at the bar Ashley.”
She lowered the magazine away from her face. “What are you talking about?”
Obie was in the middle of chewing up his bite. When he was finished he explained. “You and Jason at the bar. If you and Richie were seeing each other then, why were you and Jason together that night?”
Ashley laughed softly, feeling her face heat up from the embarrassment. She knew Richie was eagerly awaiting her explanation. “Richie and I were fighting that night,” She said.
“Oh that's right. That stripper deal, ugh?” Obie said grinning.
“Okay, the past is the past,” Richie said slightly irritated at Obie for bringing it up.
He wrapped his arms around Ashley's chest and lowered down to speak to her. “So do you want to go out for awhile tonight?”
“If you want to we can,” she answered coyly.
“What do you have in mind Dave?” Richie asked.
“I'm not sure yet,” he answered.
Hearing the door open, Dave turned around. Doc walked in and right away saw Richie and Ashley on the couch. Dave turned back around and lowered his head, not knowing what to expect.
Ashley and Richie saw him come in, but did nothing to move away from one another.
“Hey Doc. How the hell are ya?” Obie asked as he spun around in the chair to look at Doc who was walking up to the mixer board.
“I've been better,” Doc said his tone sour.
“What the hell's going on here, a party?” He asked looking around the room, but not looking at Ashley and Riche on the couch.
Dave laughed, “No that was last night. We are actually working our ass off today boss.”
Doc looked straight at Dave. “Could have fooled me,” he said, his mood still the same.
The room got uncomfortably quiet as Doc stood with his arms crossed looking into where Jon was standing with earphones on his head.
Ashley moved off of Richie. She was sitting on the couch when she said, “I'm going outside.”
She got up and Richie was right behind her. They both went out the side exit door that lead out to the parking lot. Richie pulled out his cigarette pack and handed Ashley one as the door closed behind them.
“I need to quite smoking,” she said as she took it from his hand.
Richie lit her cigarette with his lighter and smiled before he lit his own. He leaned up against the wall. “Don't let him bother you, Darlin,” he said gently.
She flashed him a sideways glance before she looked up at him fully. “I can't help it.”
Richie took a drag from his cigarette as Ashley shivered in the cold air. The sun was warm, but it was still quite chilly.
“Let me get you a coat to wear,” he said handing her his cigarette.
He opened the door to go back inside. When he reached for his jacket lying on the couch, Doc looked over his shoulder at him then turned back around.
Richie went back out the door and put his jacket on Ashley's shoulders. After she handed him both cigarettes, she slipped her arms inside and smiled. “Thanks.”
Ashley finished her cigarette and crushed it under her shoe on the pavement. She then put her arms around Richie's waist, resting her head over his heart. “I love you,” She said as she squeezed her eyes closed to block off the tears.
Richie's heart melted. He hugged her tightly in his arms just as she was doing him. “I love you too Ashley.”
Meanwhile as they embraced, Doc happened to see the whole thing unfold right before his eyes as they were visible from the window. He hated the sight of the two of them together. He was positive that Richie was using her and he couldn't believe that Richie had the audacity to do it to his own daughter after he made it perfectly clear she was hands off to them all.
Jon came out of the sound room and saw Doc staring at Richie and Ashley out the window. Jon ran his hand threw the top of his hair. “Doc,” He said.
Doc turned around and forced a smile, “Jon.”
Jon was at a loss of words as he knew nothing to say to him at that moment.
Doc lifted his chin. “I come to see how things were going.”
“You going to hang around for awhile?” Jon asked him.
Doc nodded, “I planned to, but I'm not sure if I will now.”
Jon thought quickly. “I planned on the guitar getting done tonight, but I can switch it.”
Doc's face became red. “Then he'll be with Ash…” he stopped himself. “Fine, do whatever you want, but don't do it on my account. If they want to be together, that's their business and I'm staying out of it.”
“Doc,” Jon started but was interrupted by Richie and Ashley coming back in through the door.
They were laughing and joking with each other. Jon saw Doc's forehead wrinkle and knew it was upsetting him. When Ashley sat down on the couch, Dave and Tico went to Doc and started talking to him, just to try to ease the tension. Jon motioned for Richie to follow him outside the door.
Ashley picked up her magazine and Richie left the room.
When Jon turned around, Richie knew something was going on. He cocked his head sideways wanting an explanation.
Jon answered him before he even asked. “I think it's best if you and Ashley go.”
Richie drew in a deep breath and let it out loudly.
“Rich come on. I didn't know he was coming,” Jon told him.
“I didn't say you did Jon.” Richie snapped. “I just don't think avoiding him is the way to handle this.”
“So what do you want to do, rub it in his face?” Jon said quickly. “I only see that making it worse. You have to admit, it's a lot for him to get used to.”
Richie threw up his hands. “Fine whatever you say. You're the boss.”
“Damn it Rich, don't act this way.” Jon said as Richie turned away from him.
Richie stopped before he opened the door. He knew he shouldn't have acted that way with Jon. He turned around, face to face with him.
“I'm sorry, man.”
Jon smiled and slapped his arm. “It's okay. I understand. Trust me okay?”
Richie nodded his head and then they both went back through the door into the studio. Ashley was on the couch, her feet curled up beside her, the magazine covering her face. Doc was inside the sound room talking with Obie while Dave, Tico and Al were replaying a track that had been recorded earlier.
Richie walked over to Ashley. “Let's go.”
She lowered the magazine and had a questioning look on her face when she saw that Richie wasn't smiling. “I'll explain later.”
She put the magazine down and got up from the couch. Richie grabbed his coat and said goodbye to everyone inside, Ashley did the same still unsure why they were leaving.
When they left the studio, Richie was quiet as they walked down the hall to the elevator. Ashley could feel the tension; the lump in her throat that had developed since Doc had arrived had now doubled.
Inside the elevator Richie finally broke his silence. “Jon thought it was best that we leave.”
“Oh,” Ashley said softly.
The remainder of the way back to the hotel, neither of them said anything to each other. When they got to their room Ashley went into the bathroom, locking the door behind her. The tears that she had been fighting off released with the soft click of the lock.
When she came back out sometime later, Richie was lying on the bed watching TV. He looked up when she came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel and one wrapped her around her head. Her eyes were red and she was sniffling.
“I don't want to go anywhere,” She said sitting on the bed.
Richie frowned and leaned up touching her bare shoulder. “We can stay in and order room service.”
She nodded her head, without looking at him. When she went to get up, he pulled her back. “Ashley.”
She turned her head to look at him, “I don't want to talk about it.”
Richie tried to smile. “We need to talk about it.”
She removed his hand and got up off the bed and went back into the bathroom. Richie sighed loudly and fell back onto the bed again. A few minutes later, Ashley returned dressed in a silk plum nightgown that was long with cross crossed spaghetti straps. She laid down beside Richie, curled up on her side and closed her eyes. Richie reached over to her and rubbed her shoulder, but she didn't move. Then Richie curled up behind her resting his head in his hand and kissed her shoulder softly.
“What's wrong?” He asked softly.
“I can't help that I am upset that my father won't even talk to me now,” she answered him in a small voice.
“Ashley,” He said as he moved closer to her and wrapped his arm around her waist. “I know this is hard on you, but we will work it all out. In the long run, everything will work out.”
She turned on her back and stared up into his eyes. “Richie, this is never going to work. This is your career and he's your manager. Don't you see that?”
“And don't you see how much I love you?” He argued.
Tears filled up in her eyes again. “I do see how much you love me.”
“Then you know that I'll do anything for us to be together. Nothing will come between us, not after I almost lost you for good.”
She closed her eyes; the tears broke through her eyelashes and streamed down her face. When she moved her head so he couldn't see he lifted her chin back up with is hand and cupped her face.
He kissed her lips softly at first and then opened his lips to indulge in her sweet taste. He pulled away and smiled. “Let's see what we can do to change your mood.”
He lowered his head down to her neck biting her softly and she giggled.
The next morning Ashley got up early with Richie. They showered and dressed, then ate breakfast in their room. By 9:00 AM she had accompanied him to the studio.

Ashley's story chapter 26
Part 261/21/88 Vancouver, Canada
Dave opened his eyes, thinking the loud knocking on the front door was a dream. Seconds later it came again, he knew it was for real. He glanced at the clock on the VCR that sat on top of the TV when he got up off of the couch where he had fallen asleep.
“Who in the hell would be here at this hour?” He wondered out loud. It was 3:58 AM.
He stumbled to the door with no shirt, jeans and barefoot. When he opened it he was surprised to see that it was Ashley. Her eyes were red as if she had been crying. She smiled timidly at him.
“Ashley?” Dave mumbled. “What are you doing here?”
Ashley straightened her shoulders. “I have to see Richie. It's important.”
Dave frowned, confused as to what would be so important at this hour of the morning. He stepped away from the door to let her come inside out of the cold.
“Um, okay. I'll get him up,” Dave said in a low voice.
Ashley walked into the condo. A dim light was on by the couch. Beer cans and bottles were all over the floor, the place was a wreck. Dave disappeared around the corner down the hall. She heard him knock on a door. Once…twice...three times. A few minutes later, Dave came back around the corner.
“He and Jon must still be at the studio,” Dave said then laughed, “Or they picked up some chicks and are still out.”
Ashley's heart jumped in her throat. Did she make a vital mistake coming here unexpectedly? The sick feeling in her stomach had now intensified. She barely noticed Dave picking up the phone.
”I'll call the studio to see if they answer,” he said as he dialed a number.
Ashley stood motionless just inside the door. She was now shaking, she was so upset.
“Hey!” Dave said into the phone. “You guys still there ugh?”
Ashley felt weak, so she sat down on the chair just a few feet from the door.
Dave watched her carefully as he spoke to Jon on the phone. “Well, Ashley's here and she needs to speak to Richie. I'm going to bring her over there.”
Dave nodded his head and then said. “Okay, we'll be there in a few minutes.”
When he hung up the phone Ashley had her arms around her waist and she was sitting up on the edge of the chair, staring down at the ground.
“Ashley?” Dave said.
She looked up at him, dazed.
“Are you okay?” He asked concerned.
She shook her head but didn't say anything.
“Well, let me get decent and I'll take you to the studio, it's just around the corner.”
Dave went back down the hallway as Ashley continued to stare at the ground. She shouldn't have come here on such a whim. She was so upset, she tried to get in touch with Richie but it was useless. She called Julie and begged her to give her the address of the condo they were renting while in Vancouver. Finally Julie broke down and got it for her. She quickly made a flight reservation and packed her bags. She had to see Richie.
Ashley was still lost in thought when Dave came back in the room. He walked to the door. “Let's go,” he said as he opened the door.
When they were outside on the stoop, Dave saw a suitcase and a small bag sitting by the door.
“These are yours, I assume?”
She nodded her head. “Yes,” she answered, barely because of the lump in her throat. Dave picked the bags up and put them inside the door, then closed and locked it behind him. Ashley followed him to his car, a red corvette. She got inside and Dave started the engine and backed out of the driveway. He turned on the heater, but it didn't do any good a few turns and they pulled up into a parking lot.
When they got out, Dave said. “This way,” as he walked to the door on the far side of the building. As they reached the door, Dave opened it and let Ashley go first. She was surprised when Richie was standing inside. He looked like he just woke up, his eyes were heavy.
“Darlin, what's going on?” He asked when he saw her.
Tears ran down her face as she embraced him. Richie held her tightly in his arms waiting for an answer.
Dave lowered his head and went past the two of them, to the door that lead into the mixing room and sound room.
Richie could feel her tremble, he rubbed her back. “Come on, what's wrong?” He said.
“I'm sorry,” she sobbed. “I shouldn't have come here without telling you.” She stopped to get a breath of air and to catch her breath so she could tell him.
“Shhh…calm down, baby,” Richie whispered to her. He then led her over to the loveseat that sat along the wall of the reception area that they were standing inside.
They sat down and Ashley leaned against him, still crying.
It was driving Richie crazy, not knowing what was going on. Finally Ashley said in a small voice that was just a whisper, “Doc has cut all ties with me.”
“Cut all ties?”
She rose up away from him and nodded her head. “I have no management. He sent Julie to tell me yesterday.” She licked her dry lips. “You're the only one I wanted to talk to. I tried calling you at the condo.”
Richie's forehead creased. “I'm sorry.”
Ashley wiped the tears from her face. “I can't believe he's doing this. I never thought he'd go this far.”
Richie shook his head and reached out to rub her leg. “I can't either.”
Ashley's only response was a sniffle. Richie put his arm around her shoulders, trying to comfort her.
“Did you just get here?”
She nodded. “It was the only flight available.”
“Where's your stuff?”
“Dave put it inside the condo before he drove me here.”
Richie nodded. “Okay. You have to be tired. Let's go get a hotel room so you can sleep.”
Ashley smiled gratefully. “Okay,” she said softly.
Richie got up from the couch and went to the door that Dave walked through moments before. “Let me tell Jon where I'm going.”
Ashley nodded and then he opened the door and closed it behind him. She took in a long deep breath and let it out slowly. She got up from the couch and glanced at Richie as he walked out the door. He smiled warmly, put his arm around her and they walked out the door.
Richie first drove to the condo to pack his suitcase and to get Ashley's. Then he went to The Ritz Carlton, paid for the suite and then did everything he could possibly do to make Ashley feel better. He had told Jon what was going on and luckily they were taking the next day to rest.
After sleeping until late in the afternoon, Richie got up and ordered coffee and a light breakfast for the both of them. Ashley was still sound asleep, curled up on her side. Her face wasn't as serene as it had been the other times he watched her sleep. So many thoughts were running through his mind as what to do. He felt responsible for everything, since Doc made it so perfectly clear that he wasn't good enough for his daughter. Should he go to Doc and try to talk to him? He understood why Doc didn't approve of their relationship, but he was not being fair to Ashley. He wasn't being fair about any of it. Richie felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and saw no way to get it off.
Doc was the band's manager. Doc was Jon's good friend. How was all of this going to be affected? Richie sighed, closed his eyes and rolled his neck around relieving some of the tension that was trapped there.
Room service arrived. Richie quietly opened the door and stopped the deliverer from coming inside. He tipped him, and then rolled the cart inside himself careful not to wake Ashley up. He poured himself a cup of coffee and fixed a bagel with cream cheese then sat down on the couch to read the news paper.
The delicious aroma of the coffee and food woke Ashley up not long after Richie sat down. She slipped on her silk full length rose colored robe, tied it around her waist and then walked out of the bedroom. Richie looked up from the paper and smiled at her. She smiled back.
“I didn't wake you did I?” He asked as she sat down beside him, crossing her leg over the other one.
The robe fell open at her legs and she pulled it back over them.
She smiled. “No, the smell did. I'm starving.”
She got up and leaned over the cart that was sitting beside Richie. There was mixed fruits, bagels, muffins, two carafes one with coffee and the other with orange juice. She picked up a strawberry and took a bite.
“Mmmm,” she smiled. “That's the best strawberry I've ever had.” She gave him a wide grin and then picked up a bagel and spread butter on it.
After she made a cup of coffee she sat back down beside him and curled one leg under the other. She took a sip of coffee then sat the cup down on the table. She leaned back against Richie's arm as she ate her bagel and looked over at the paper he was reading.
“How long have you been awake?” She asked as she took a bite of food.
“Not too long.”
“When do you have to go to the studio?”
Richie kissed her cheek. “I don't have to today.”
Ashley grinned and took another bite of food. “So what are we going to do today?”
Richie tilted his head to rest against hers. “Anything you want. I'm all yours.”
She smiled and lifted her head up to him. Their lips met; tenderly, lovingly kissing each other. Richie parted her robe, his hands slid inside. She moaned and he laid her down all the while he untied her robe. It fell open, he kissed her neck. Moving down lower he placed random kisses on her body. She untied his robe and pulled it open, pulling it down his arms until it freed him.
She grabbed his shoulders and lifted him towards her. They kissed, they made love. Not giving thought to anything else, they were each other's comfort the rest of the day and night.
Dave opened his eyes, thinking the loud knocking on the front door was a dream. Seconds later it came again, he knew it was for real. He glanced at the clock on the VCR that sat on top of the TV when he got up off of the couch where he had fallen asleep.

Ashley's story chapter 25
Part 25
1/20/88
At 10:49 AM, Ashley was brushing her teeth when the buzzer on the intercom went off. She rolled her eyes and spit out the toothpaste, turned off the faucet and went to answer it. It had been a long morning already and she wasn’t in the mood for any visitors.
“Hey, it's Julie. Did I wake you?”
“No, but I hope you brought coffee because I’m in a bad mood and I'm out,” Ashley answered her.
Julie's anxiety level shot through the roof. With what she had to tell her, it wasn't good that she was in a bad mood and without coffee.
“I'll go get you some coffee. I'll be right back,” Julie said calmly.
“Okay.” Ashley walked away from the door.
She went upstairs and picked up the jeans that were lying on her bed. She was dead tired and had to drag herself out of the bed this morning. She had just flown home from Bermuda the day before and now had a few days off to recuperate for the next shoot.
She hadn't heard from Doc and she didn't dare call him even if he were her manager. Thank god he had hired Julie. It would have been real sticky if he was the one who was foreseeing her career. However, Doc was Julie's boss and she guessed her main reason for the visit today was because she now knew about Richie.
Ashley pulled the sweatshirt over her head and sighed. Yes, she should have told Julie all about their relationship, but she didn't. Why, she didn't know. She feared that Julie would now feel betrayed. Hopefully, she'll understand.
15 minutes later, Julie buzzed again and Ashley let her in the door. When Julie walked in the door, Ashley was towel drying her hair. She took the cup out of Julie's hands with a smile.
“Thank you so much. I was dreading going out just to get some.”
Julie smiled as Ashley walked away, going towards the couch.
Ashley plopped down, sitting the cup on the table. She continued to dry her hair with the towel she had. “So what's up?” She asked Julie.
Julie took a deep breath. “Something's come up.”
Ashley raised her head as she realized the tone in Julie's voice. “What?”
Julie searched for the right words to say at a delicate time such as this. She hated to be the one to tell Ashley, but Doc was forcing her too. She somehow hoped it would go better then she feared.
“Julie?” Ashley said.
She watched Julie's eyes and she knew it was bad news, whatever it is.
“It's Doc isn't it?” Ashley asked.
Julie nodded her head and looked away.
“What's he trying to do now?”
Julie sat down beside her on the couch and looked at Ashley. “He has sent me here to tell you that you are no longer represented by Doc McGhee Entertainment.”
Ashley let out a small sigh of relief. “Well, that's okay because you're my manager anyway.”
Julie shook her head. “And I work for him, Ashley.”
It took a few seconds before it registered. Ashley bit the inside of her cheek and took a deep breath to remain as calm as she could to cover up how she really felt inside.
She smiled at Julie. “I figured this would happen,” she stated.
Julie frowned. “I'm sorry Ashley; I don't know what to say.”
Ashley laughed. “It's okay. There's nothing to say. I suspected he would do this, so I have been trying to find someone else.”
“Oh?” Julie asked surprised. “Well, I really wish that I wasn't the last to know.”
Ashley shook her head, her demeanor showed no signs of how upset she really was. “I'm sorry that I didn't tell you. Things were…are still complicated.”
“So have you had any luck?”
Ashley smiled. “I have.” She cleared her throat and changed the subject. “So what are you going to do?”
Julie shrugged one shoulder. “Doc said not to worry about it; he's going to sign some new artists.”
Ashley leaned towards her and gave her a hug. “I wish you the best.”
Julie hugged her back. Ashley pulled away and smiled. “But take it from me; Doc is callous and hard to work for.”
Julie rolled her eyes. “Ashley…look. You are his daughter and he's just looking out for you.”
Ashley's eyes narrowed. “So, you are taking his side!”
“No, I didn't say that. Doc and I get a long fine,” Julie corrected.
“Yeah, until you do something he doesn't approve of, no matter how much it means to you,” Ashley laughed.
Julie sat quietly. She really thought Ashley would be upset by the news, but apparently she was expecting it, as she said. She didn't seem to be bothered by it at all.
“So you're really okay?”
Ashley nodded. “Yes, don't worry about me. I'll be just fine. I'm used to him not being there.”
Julie lowered her head. She really felt bad for Ashley and was ticked off at Doc for making HER be the one to tell HIS daughter he wanted to cut all ties with her. She got up off the couch and went to the door, Ashley behind her. She turned and tried her best to smile.
“I don't know what to say.”
Ashley smiled brightly. “Just say, see you later.”
Julie was amazed at how strong Ashley appeared. “Okay. See you later.”
As the door closed, the tears were already falling down Ashley's cheeks. She couldn't believe Doc was doing this to her. She sat down on the couch, her head falling in her hands as she cried thinking that her career was for sure over now.

Ashley's story chapter 24
Part 24
1/10/88
A soft muffled sound of birds chirping outside the window was the only hint that morning was upon them. Richie's blinds and curtains were drawn so no ray of light would have ever woken then up. Morning time was not his favorite time of the day. Ashley had been awake for a while, curled up in Richie's arms peacefully. She woke up with a smile on her face for the first time in a long time.
Last night was still etched into her memory. She closed her eyes remembering how nice it was making love to the man she loved. He was everything she could ever hope for and completely he was everything she needed. Deep down inside she knew they would one day be together, she held on to that hope for so long. Her other hope was that Doc would be happy about their relationship, but that seemed too good to be true.
Changing her thoughts again so she wouldn't get in a bad mood, she smiled. She ran her hand slowly down Richie's chest and to his stomach, watching the muscles ripple. She bit her lip as her hand inched lower each time her hand moved down his stomach. He moaned softly, just the little sign she was waiting for. She moved her hand lower still feeling his warm skin in her palm. She delicately kissed his chest as she moved her hand around him. He moved his hands in her hair and moaned again.
“Good morning,” she whispered as she bit his chest gently.
He laughed and moaned at the same time. Ashley rose up, her hair falling down around her face and his chest. She slowly straddled him, her lips running down his chest to his waist, her hair dragging along with her. When she kissed back up his stomach she stopped at his chest and raised her head to look at him as he pulled the hair out of her face.
“I could wake up like this for the rest of my life,” he said with a low rough voice.
Ashley smiled as she lowered herself down on him biting his neck. His arms embraced her as he moved his hips up against her open legs. They both moaned as he became buried deep inside her.
“Are you awake?” She asked softly in his ear.
She was prepared when he flipped her over on her back. “What do you think?” He asked her.
He left her breathless again. Collapsing on top of her he moaned appreciatively.
Ashley got up out of bed and walked towards his bathroom. Richie whistled at her and she turned around and giggled at him. “Come take a shower with me. I need someone to wash my back.” "Can I wash your front too?" He asked grinning wickedly.
Ashley stopped in the doorway of the bathroom and turned around to him. He was already there at her. She looked up at him and winked. “I'll wash yours if you wash mine.” "Now that is an offer I can't refuse," He said picking her up over his shoulder.
She giggled as he carried her into the bathroom, sitting her down by the shower. She let him run the water, and then she got in. Richie got in behind her, embracing her waist and pulling her back to him.
He reached for the soap that was in the holder in front her. He lathered it in his hands then applied it to the front of her body as she leaned back against him. She moaned as he cupped her breasts, playing with her nipples. She arched her back, biting down on her bottom lip. He used one foot to move her legs further apart and bent down just enough to burry himself into her again.
She reached back and fisted both of her hands in his hair as he continued to wash her chest, slowly moving inside her at the same time. He loved the view of her body he had as he continued moving his hands around her breasts. She moaned, resting her head back on his shoulder. He kissed her cheek, feeling her satisfaction was drawing near. He nibbled on her ear, gently sucking on her earlobe whispering to her as she reached her climax. He continued on, moving Ashley's legs further apart. He groaned, rolling her nipples between his fingers releasing himself inside her.
She collapsed against his back panting. She started laughing, making him laugh with her.
“You were supposed to wash me baby,” she said up at him as she rested her head back on his shoulder.
He kissed her cheek, “You got washed. I'm very talented see. I can do two things at once.” Ashley's giggled. Finding just enough strength in her legs to support her, she turned around to him.
“My turn.” Richie's grinned at her as he handed her the soap. “I'm not THAT talented, “she laughed.
“You're pretty damn talented,” he said as she started washing his chest.
Ashley shook her head still laughing at his comment. She ran her soapy hand down his chest to his stomach and on to other parts. Richie closed his eyes and moaned as she continued. Ashley kissed his lips tenderly, deciding she could have some fun with him. As she stroked him with her hand, Richie bit at her neck, then her ear.
When she was done, he kissed her lips. “That's talent,” He said as he pulled away.
She smiled seductively up at him, her fingers trailing down his chest. “You're just too easy.”
Richie shook his head, “No, you're just that damn good.” After they finally got done with their shower, they got out as the doorbell rang.
“Who the hell could that be?” Richie asked as he started drying off.
Ashley shrugged her shoulders as she wrapped her hair up in a towel. “Someone that doesn't know you like to sleep late, it seems.”
The doorbell rang again and Richie opened the bathroom door to find some clothes. “I'll be right back,” He said to her, kissing her lips as he put on his jeans, not bothering to put on any underwear.
Ashley wrapped a towel around her as he went off to answer the door.
Walking to the door, Richie saw Doc standing at the glass. Doc waved as he saw Richie coming to open it.
“Did I wake you up?” Doc asked as Richie opened the door.
Richie shook his head. “No not really. What's up?” Doc gave him a sideways glance. “I need to talk to you, can I come inside?” Richie moved out of Doc's way and let him inside. He closed the door and then followed Doc into the living room. The first thing Richie saw was the robe Ashley left at the stairway. Doc saw it too.
"Do you have company left over from last night?" He asked as he turned around.
"Yes I have company."
Doc smiled, knowing he had now caught Richie cheating on Ashley. He smugly looked at him ready to tell him so when he saw Ashley coming down the stairs in a white robe with a towel on her head.
"What in the hell are YOU doing here?" Doc asked angrily.
Ashley pulled the towel from her head. “If you must know Doc I spent the night” Doc turned to Richie and glared at him. “You fucked my daughter?” Ashley was appalled at the word he had used. She was about to speak when Richie cleared his throat. "I wouldn't call it that Doc."
“WHAT WOULD YOU CALL IT!?"
“It's none of your business,” Ashley said.
“NONE OF MY BUSINESS!” Doc shouted.
Ashley stared at him and that made Doc more irate.
“You just started dating him and after all my warnings you let him take your virginity last night?"
"I lost my virginity a long time ago," Ashley said.
Richie cursed under is breath and shook his head.
"And just when was that?" Doc demanded
“I'm not discussing this with you Doc,” Ashley said as she folded her arms across her waist.
“I want some answers.” Doc ordered.
Ashley laughed. “Fine, you want to know…Mexico.” "Mexico?” He then turned to look at Richie. “You son of a bitch, you lied to me." Doc said to Richie.
“He didn't do anything I didn't want,” Ashley said in his defense.
"Don't give me that shit! You were inexperienced you didn't know what you wanted."
“I know that I am in love with him.” Ashley said. Doc started laughing but she continued. “You just don't understand.” "You're damn right I don't understand! All I see is a man who is old enough to know better taking advantage of my daughter. You had no right to touch her you bastard!" Doc said to Richie again.
Richie stood there glaring at Doc. He put his arm around Ashley, trying to remain calm. “I'm sorry that I lied to you, but we thought it was for the best. Judging by your actions now, we were right.” “You two have been going behind my back since Mexico?” Doc asked.
Ashley shook her head. “Before Mexico.”
“Before Mexico! So you just fucking lied to me to get in her pants!” Richie shook his head, “No…” “NO! So what you think I am actually going to believe that you love her?” Doc laughed.
Richie took a deep breath and shook his head, seeing Doc wasn't going to understand anything.
Doc looked at Ashley. “You know all about his reputation.” Richie rolled his eyes. “That's in the past. I haven't lied to her; she knows how I was before I met her.”
Doc laughed at him but Richie continued. "Being with Ashley has taught me what love is."
"Love isn't something you feel with your dick, RICHARD! You fuck anything that doesn't have a dick between its legs.” “Fuck you Doc! I don't have to listen to this in my own house,” Richie said loudly.
Doc nodded his head. "Enjoy your life, Ashley. But don't come to me when you find out he's used you."
He turned to leave but Richie grabbed his arm and stopped him. "You can't walk out on her like that. You did it when she was younger. Can't you just be a father and be there for her instead?"
“You bastard,” Doc said as he took a swing at him.
Ashley moved to grab Richie, “STOP IT! BOTH OF YOU JUST STOP!” She screamed.
Doc went to the door as Ashley pushed Richie towards the stairs. She turned back to Doc. “You need to leave,” said with an uneven, shaky voice.
When the door slammed shut, Richie darted past Ashley as she begged him to stop. He opened the door.
“You are making the mistake Doc. Ashley's your daughter."
"She was my daughter. You ruined that when you took her away from me," Doc said without looking back at him.
Doc got into his car and slammed the door preventing Richie from adding anything to that remark.
Ashley stood next to Richie watching as the car pulled out of the drive and onto the road.
"What a prick,” Richie mumbled under his breath. He turned to Ashley and put his arm around her. “I'm sorry.” Unshed tears glistened in her eyes and he knew just how much that confrontation had hurt her. He wished there had been a way to avoid it and he resolved to find a way to make Doc come around. Ashley moved from the door and Richie stopped her.
“Ashley.” “I'm going back upstairs.” “I'll make some coffee, okay?” She barely nodded her head as she walked away from him.
She nodded her head and went on to the stairs. Richie watched her walk up them and then went into the kitchen. He had to think of something to make the situation better and NOT being with her was an option he refused to even consider.
After the coffee was made, Ashley still hadn't come down so Richie went to find her. He walked into his bedroom and saw her on the bed, curled up on her side her back facing away from the door. He walked over to the foot of the bed and crawled up in front of her, lying down beside her. Her eyes were red; it was obvious that she had been crying.
He drew her close to him. “I love you,” he whispered as he held her tight against him.
He caressed her back and spoke so softly she had to strain to hear. "Somehow, someway I'll make this work. I swear I will."
“What if it doesn't? I can't do this to you, this is your career,” she sobbed.
"My career has nothing to do with this. They are two separate things Darlin'. Doc will come around and see things our way even if I have to beat it in to him."
She was about to tell him he couldn't do that when she looked up and caught the twinkle shining in his deep brown eyes. She pulled herself up to his lips and kissed him softly. He held her close as his hand cupped the back of her head and his lips answered hers in a deep kiss full of love and meaning.

Ashley's story chapter 23
Part 23
1/9/88 “I talked to Doc yesterday,” Jon said to Richie on the phone.
“Yeah?” Richie sighed. “I can only imagine what he's said to you.”
Jon laughed. “Well, I'm not sure if he understands the whole thing.” “What do you mean?”
Jon sighed. “I thought you were going to tell him about Mexico?” “Well, we didn't.” “No shit!” Jon laughed. “He thinks you are seducing Ashley and by doing that you've betrayed him.” “I can see that,” Richie said seriously.
“He thinks I should be as mad as he is, but I told him I was staying out of it, it was you and Ashley's business,” Jon stated.
“I appreciate that Jon and I'm sorry for putting you in the middle.”
“No,” Jon said. “You didn't put me in the middle, Doc did. I'm just glad it's all out in the open now.” Richie agreed with him and they both laughed in unison.
“So, what are you doing tonight?” Jon asked casually.
Richie smiled to himself, “Ashley's coming over. I am cooking dinner.” “Oh Jesus!” Jon laughed. “My, my, my…you've got it bad don't you?” Richie laughed, “I don't know if you would call it got it bad, or can't get enough.” “Well, have a good time tonight.” After Richie hung up the phone he wondered what Doc was going to say to him when he saw him again. It's not that he was worried about it; he felt he could handle anything Doc threw at him. He just hoped it didn't get messy for Ashley's sake. He knew deep down Ashley was hurt by the way Doc acted even though she didn't show it. He could also understand Doc's feelings about it. There was a 10 year age difference and he had the reputation of sailor. He now had to prove to Doc that he wasn't about that anymore. He hoped in time that he would be able to do that, but in order for that to happen, Doc would have to open his eyes some and let Ashley be her own person.
Richie planned to have dinner cooked at exactly 5:30 and Ashley said she would be at his house around 4:00. He thought he could cook enough to get by. But he made he was good at cooking, Gilled Chicken Pasta Primavera. So at 3:00 PM he started preparing to cook dinner after he had his shower. He had never cooked for someone other then himself and the guys, so he was somewhat nervous. The end result was burning the chicken. He was pissed off but tried to laugh it off. Now what?
When the door bell rang, he still hadn't come up with an alternative plan for dinner, so he thought he'd let Ashley decide. He opened the door and suddenly his tension was gone when she flashed him her great smile. He greeted her with a kiss and a hug and then let her in the door.
Ashley's smile turned to somewhat of a frown as she started to take her coat off. “What's that smell?” She asked him.
Richie laughed as he took her coat and hung it next to his inside the closet that was by the basement door. “Burnt chicken.” She tried not to laugh. “Burnt chicken?” He sighed. “Yes, I overcooked dinner just a little bit.” Ashley patted his back. “That's okay. I'm not all that hungry anyway.”
He laughed. “Well, that's a good thing then. If you get hungry I'll make you pop tarts or something easy.” Ashley laughed at his humor. “No, that's okay. I'll pass on the pop tarts.” Richie looked down at small overnight bag she was holding at her side. “So, I see you brought your bathing suit.” She looked down at the bag and then back up at him. “Yes, just as you requested.” He took her bag in one hand and her hand in the other and led her into the living room. “We can go to dinner if you want to.” Ashley shook her head. “Really, I'm not all that hungry.” Richie still insisted. “I WANT to take you to dinner.” “Fine,” She said. “Whatever you want.” He stopped by the couch and turned to put his arms around her.
She smiled, “Something simple?” He nodded his head and rubbed her back. “I know a great café in Central Park we could go to.” “This is silly for me to come all the way here just to turn around and go all the way back.” “I said I was sorry,” He pouted.
She shook her head. “That's not what I mean. Can't we just eat somewhere close? Why do we have to go back to New York?” Richie narrowed his eyes and looked directly into hers. “Listen. Don't argue with me. It sure beats the hell out of eating my burnt chicken.” She laughed, “Okay, you win.” He grinned and kissed the tip of her nose. “You want some wine?” She shook her head, “Not right now. I'm trying to cut back.” “I'll be right back then,” he said as he left the room going up the stairs.
Ashley shook her head watching him go. His jeans were faded denim and his white tee shirt was tight. She admired him as he walked up the steps. When he disappeared she sat back against the couch and looked around the room. She looked around at the living room again. Sun was shining down into the room from the skylight that was in the center of the room, making the room warm with natural light. What was left of the fire in the fireplace had now burnt to ashes, barely smoldering with a hint of dark orange. The mirror over the mantle reflected that of the backyard, trees just barely covered in snow. She sat up on the edge of the couch and looked outside to where the hot tub was located on his privacy deck.
She heard him whistling as he was coming back down the stairs and back into the living room.
“Don't you think it'll be too cold to get in the hot tub?” She asked as she continued to look at it.
“Nope. Not when your inside,” he answered her as he walked over to the glass French door that lead to it.
He turned around and smiled. “You won't even know your outside.” She laughed. “Maybe not for you, but I have a bikini and that means more skin will be exposed. I'm sure the hardest part is dropping your towel and jumping in.” Richie's lips curved into a smile made on seduction. “That's my favorite part.” “Are you always bad?” She asked as she got up off the couch going to him.
His grin became wider, the dimples forming in both cheeks. “You know I'm not.” She put her arms around his waist and lifted her head to gaze completely into his eyes.
“You know how good I am,” he whispered just as his tongue touched her mouth suggestively.
Ashley's body became limb as he kissed her passionately. She moaned softly when his hands cupped her hips, pulling her closer to him as the kiss became deeper.
When he pulled away from her, her breathing was shallow. She opened her eyes and gazed into his once again. “I promise you, you won't be cold.” He whispered.
She grinned up at him; he picked her up around the waist and moved away from the door. Kissing her neck, she giggled.
“We better go now, or there won't be any dinner,” he said against her neck.
She giggled and he sat her back down on her feet. He took her by the hand, walking to the basement door. He stopped and picked up his coat off the chair and handed hers to her then went down to the garage and opened the door for her on his Ferrari.
“I've never drove this car that much until now,” he said as she got in.
She batted her eyelashes up at him and he shook his head, closing the door for her.
Richie took Ashley to a small French Café in Central Park. Ashley ordered a grilled Chicken Salad and Richie ordered a French Dip Sandwich. Seating along the window, they sat side by side in the red and white plaid covered booth. Ashley was sipping on water and Richie was having coffee.
“When are you going to Vancouver?” She asked him as they waited for their food.
“Sunday night. You are going to have to come visit me.” She smiled. “I don't want to be in the way.” “Don't be silly,” he said as his hand moved along her back. “I want you to come. You can watch. Not that it will be exciting or anything.” “I don't know.” “Sure, you can stay with me. No wait. We'll get a hotel room. You wouldn't want to stay at the condo with all of us.” She laughed and took a drink of her water. “Why not? That sounds like fun.”
“No really.” He nodded, “You wouldn't like it. We wouldn't have any privacy anyway. They'd be giving us hell and shit.” She laughed again and agreed. “You're right.” As she flipped her hair over her shoulder, she saw Jason standing at the counter staring at them. She smiled slightly and then turned back around.
Richie looked past her and frowned. “I just can't get away from him at all can I?” The waitress brought their dinner and Ashley didn't say anything to him regarding Jason, she thought it was best she didn't.
They continued to eat when Richie looked back over and saw that Jason was gone.
“Why didn't he come say hello?” He said, not really asking a question but that's how it came out.
Ashley shifted uncomfortably in her chair. “I don't know.” She could sense Richie staring at her and she lifted her eyes and he was. He didn't look happy either.
Just before Ashley could say anything, Jason walked up to the table with a blonde headed girl.
“Sorry to bother,” he said with a sincere smile. “This is Suzette. She's a big fan Richie. She just wanted to say hi.” Richie smiled up at her. “Hi Suzette.” Suzette smiled. “Jason told me he worked with you and I just didn't believe him. This is so cool,” she gushed.
"Yes, he did work with us Darlin but I wish he'd have brought along someone as pretty as you," Richie said.
Ashley smiled up at Suzette but was ready to kill Richie. Jason gave her a quick glance, it was clear that he was uncomfortable around her still.
“Would you mind giving me your autograph?” Suzette asked Richie.
Richie smiled at her again. “No, of course not.” Ashley thought Richie was being a little too friendly to her. She watched as he sighed the paper she handed him.
She and Jason left shortly after Richie gave the paper back to her.
Richie rested his arm behind Ashley and rubbed her back as he took another sip of his coffee.
“She seems nice,” he said casually.
Ashley turned around to him and rolled her eyes. “Did she turn you on?” Richie looked at her like she was crazy, “Excuse me?” “You heard me. You seem to have a thing for every girl that Jason does.” “Ashley,” Richie laughed.
“WHAT?” She said hatefully.
“Now, who's jealous?” He asked her with a smile on his face.
“Jerk,” she said and looked away from him.
They continued to eat their dinner, in silence. Richie let his leg fall over and touch hers, but she immediately moved it away from him.
Setting his roast beef sandwich down, he looked over at her. “What's wrong?” He asked.
“I didn't care for the comment you made to Suzette,” she told him.
“Darlin, if Jason had someone like her he would have left you alone. That's what I meant.” She stabbed her fork into her bowl. “Well, it sure as hell didn't come out that way.”
Richie put his arm around her shoulders and drew her close to him as she tried to resist it.
“I'm sorry,” he said into her ear.
She gave him a short smile but didn't tell him he was forgiven. Richie turned back around and continued to eat. After he was finished he asked for more coffee then sat up to the table folding his hands.
“Does Jason know about us?” He asked.
”'What do you mean?” Ashley asked.
“Does Jason know what went on with you and me?” Richie said, refining the question.
Ashley put her fork down and took a drink of water. “Yes.” Richie didn't say anything in response. He just sat back in his seat. He suspected that Jason knew after what had happened at Jon's party. Somehow, having it confirmed irritated him.
“So, he thinks I'm a prick.” Richie said.
Ashley sighed. “Yes he does, but why should you care what he thinks? You don't have to impress him.” A thought run through her mind. She pushed her salad bowl away. “Oh, you are afraid he'll tell Suzette what a jerk you are, is that it?” Richie's jaw clenched. This wasn't supposed to be happening tonight. He wanted to have a good time. “Ashley…”he said as he put his arm around her.
She pulled away. “Just drop it, okay?” Richie let go of her and said nothing.
The waitress brought the bill and Richie went to the counter to pay it. Ashley lingered behind him and followed him outside when he left. Just as they were about to cross the street, Richie turned around and took her hand. He was grinning at her.
“What?” She said, still irritated.
He pulled her with him as he walked backwards. “Let's go for a ride around the city.” He said.
She then saw he was leading her to a horse and buggy. She laughed sarcastically. “It's so cold.” He winked. “Not when you have a blanket and me to keep you warm.” He stepped up backwards into the buggy amazingly he didn't' fall. Ashley couldn't help but laugh at him. He helped her up into the buggy; still she didn't want to do it but sat down anyway. He quickly opened the blanket and spread it over their legs. As the horse started to pull the buggy along Richie put his arm around her.
He rested his cheek against her forehead. “Warm enough?” He asked softly.
Ashley nodded. She smiled as she found his hand under the blanket and clasped it in hers. Richie kissed her forehead and when she looked up at him, he kissed her lips softly.
“Forgive me? “He asked her sadly.
She laughed. “Yes, this time.” He smiled again and kissed her, his hand let go of hers and he raised it to her face. His fingers moved down her cheek and to her throat before he covered her cheek completely with the palm of his hand. She kissed him back, moving closer to him as they slide down against the seat together. While kissing their hands moved touching and caressing one another tenderly. They only stopped when the buggy came to a stop.
Richie looked up and laughed. “Rides over.” Ashley sat up and giggled. “I didn't see anything.” Richie helped her out of the buggy. “You weren't supposed to Darlin.” “I was set up!” Ashley kidded.
Richie laughed and nodded his head. “I'm afraid that you were.” After they made it back to Richie's house, he built a fire in the fireplace and then opened a bottle of wine. They sat down on the couch in front of the fire, Ashley curled up beside him and they talked while drinking the first glass. Then Richie wanted to get in the hot tub.
“Go ahead and change and I'll get it ready.” He said as she started up the stairs to his bedroom.
“Where are you going to change?” She asked.
“I'll be up in a minute.” Ashley went on into the bedroom as Richie opened the French doors that lead outside. He pulled the top off of the hot tub and checked the temperature. He adjusted the heater to make it warmer then went to change.
Ashley came out of the bathroom and Richie smiled. “I turned the heat up.” He said as he looked over her bathing suit.
“Okay,” She said. He walked over to his closet and pulled out a white robe. “You can put this on when we go outside.
She took the robe from him and then he went to change. When he was done he came back out with his robe on and Ashley was in hers. She looked at him and shook her head.
“That's no fair. You saw mine. I want to see yours.” She said as she slowly untied the sash on the robe.
Richie chuckled as the robe fell open. She ran her hands up his chest and smiled up at him. “Nice trunks.” She said and then pulled away from him.
They went back downstairs and Richie got the bottle of wine, handing Ashley her empty glass. They went outside with slippers on their feet. It was cold and Ashley was laughing.
“This is the most insane thing I've ever done,” she said.
Richie sat the bottle down. He pulled off his robe and slid his feet out from the slippers then slowly got down into the steaming water.
He looked up at Ashley. “It's a lot warmer in here.” She smiled and sat her glass down beside his on the edge of the tub. She removed the slippers and let the robe fall off of her. She made eye contact with him as she lowered herself down into the water. She smiled feeling how warm it was. He poured them each another glass of wine and they leaned back against the tub as they started drinking it.
“You are right, this feels wonderful,” Ashley said as she leaned her head back against the padding around the top.
“Don't get too relaxed,” Richie kidded her.
She smiled. “I won't. I promise.” “I'm holding you to that.” Ashley smiled knowingly and took another drink from her glass. She let her hand find his thigh and she gave it a suggestive squeeze. Richie closed his eyes and bit his tongue to keep from praising her touch in the form of a moan.
Ashley quickly finished her wine. She sat up and turned to Richie. She looked straight at him and grinned as she managed to sit the empty glass down on the edge without dropping it into the water. She moved closer to him, her hands running along the back of his neck down his back as she did. Richie moved his legs to allow her to get as close as she desired. Her body was pressed up against his as she ran her tongue inside his mouth. Her lips traveled down his chin and to his neck. He smiled as she licked his skin and then gently started sucking on his ear.
She moved away from him just enough to get the glass out of his hand. She then stopped and in one swig, she finished his glass and then sat it down beside hers. He was smiling as he watched her. She then wrapped her legs around his waist. They started to kiss again. She had him pinned up against the side of the tub, her motions just enough to get him aroused. He ran his hands down her back to both cheeks of her butt and she smiled against his lips when she felt all of him as he pressed himself up against her.
He twirled their bodies around in the water as they started kissing again. Ashley's hands ran up into his wet hair as he slowly backed her up against the side of the tub. She moaned as he kissed her neck, his hand in her hair pulling her head back. He pressed up against her again, this time with his entire body. She raised her head back up and their eyes met. They each smiled as they stared at each other, speaking what each other knew the other one wanted.
“I think we better go inside, don't you?” He asked her.
She shook her head. ”I'm fine right here.” With one arm around his neck, Ashley held on to him as her other hand moved down his chest to his waist. She smiled as her fingers inched inside the band of his trunks and took him completely into the palm of her hand. She squeezed gently, but it enough to make him moan.
She started to kiss him again, as her hand moved slowly on him. His moans filled her mouth; his hand caressed her left breast, toying with her hard nipple. Ashley was in control and Richie was totally turned on by it. She drove him almost to the edge and then she stopped pulling her hand away as she continued to kiss him. Her teasing drove him crazy. He groaned, and then his fingers slid inside her bikini bottoms. As they slid inside her, it brought forth a gasp from her curved lips. She raised her head and was met with Richie's lips feverishly kissing her. He now had her against the side of the tub, pleasing her with first one then two fingers. She managed to wrap her hand around him again, but he pulled away.
”Nhh uhh,” he said between kisses.
Then she felt his thumb massaging her as his fingers continued to bring her pleasure. She whimpered. She couldn't stop the orgasm that was building inside, spiraling from within, it coursed through her, a rush of pleasure. She gasped as she bucked hard against the hand that made her feel so good.
Richie was ready to explode himself. Just seeing her facial expressions, hearing her moan again drove him crazy. He looked into her eyes and smiled as she tried to control her breathing. She grinned, then grabbed him with both of her hands by his face and kissed him. He felt her legs, still wrapped around him tremble. He pressed up against her again and moaned. She pulled away.
“We better go inside,” she said slightly out of breath.
“Why? I thought you were fine here,” he kidded.
She ignored his statement and got up out of the tub. She was already inside by the time he got the robe around him. He went inside and found her robe lying in front of the stair case. He looked up the steps and found her bikini top laying just a few steps from the top one. He smiled, and then started up to see what else she had left behind. He turned down the hall and looked to his bedroom. The door was closed and her bottoms were lying on the floor. Excitement rushed though his veins as he started towards the door. He slowly turned the knob then opened the door.
Ashley was laying in bed, her head propped up on her hand. She was laying on her side, the covers pulled up around her, but tucked under her arms. She smiled.
“What took you so long?” Richie smiled. “Mind if I join you?” “I was hoping you would,” she said in a sultry tone that made him throb.
He pulled off his robe, as Ashley watched him. Then as his fingers found the waist band of his trunks, their eyes locked. Ashley smiled as he pulled them down and stepped out of him. She glanced down at him and then back up. He moved to the bed and she drew back the covers, exposing her fully naked body.
Richie felt his legs weaken as he slid in beside her. She welcomed him with open arms and they immediately started to kiss. Richie was surprised when Ashley climbed on top of him. As she straddled him, she gently sat down, rubbing her warm flesh against his hard on.
He groaned. “You're driving me insane.”
She looked down at him and smiled. “I'm glad it's working.” He reached up and pulled her down to him, kissing her as he did. She moved her hips back and forth allowing herself to enjoy how he felt rubbing her that way. She whimpered, desperately wanting him inside her.
“I need you,” she said in his ear.
“Ashley.” She positioned herself over him, and reached between her legs to guide him in. She gasped hard, and he moaned, as his hands grabbed her hips. Once he was fully inside her, she didn't move. He moved her hair out of her face, and smiled when her eyes found his. She smiled down at him and ran both of her hands threw his hair.
“I love you,” she said softly.
“I love you too.” Their lips touched and they kissed tenderly for a few moments. Ashley started to move slow and unsure at first. Their hips met gently against one another. She buried her face in his neck and moaned softly, the feelings inside her being intensifying. She was overwhelmed by the emotions that hit her as they made love to each other again.

Ashley's story chapter 22
Part 22
Ashley woke up in Richie's arms, finding that they had fallen asleep on the couch. She opened her eyes slightly. The room was full of bright orange rays from the sun coming in through the windows. They never pulled the curtains last night as they sat talking. The radio was still playing and Richie was sound asleep, cradling her in his arms. She snuggled her face against his chest and smiled. Feeling so close to him never felt any better. She ran her hand on his chest beside her head, feeling the rise and fall from his shallow breathing. She titled her head up, the look on his face was so relaxed and peaceful she feared moving and disturbing his sleep. She smiled as last night came to mind. They rediscovered each other by talking about everything and before they realized it the bottle of wine they were drinking was gone. She must have fallen asleep on him. She wondered what time it was and how long they had slept. Last she remembered it was close to 2:30 AM.
She listened closer to the sound of the cars on the street. It sounded pretty busy, so it had to be mid morning. She slowly rose her head up off of Richie's chest, put he pulled her back to him. She giggled softly and kissed his cheek. He moaned and a slow smile spread from one side of his mouth to the other. She tried once more at moving but he had a good hold on her so she gave up.
She laid her head back down and listened to his heart beating, keeping time to her thoughts. She enjoyed their night together and waking up in his arms was the icing on the cake, she had caved! She began to dream of what it would be like to do that every morning of every day for the rest of her life. Gentle curves tilted the corners of her mouth upwards as her imagination ran wild. She couldn't help but giggle softly as she pictured the typical white fenced yard with a couple of kids playing on a swing set.
Richie moved slightly. “What time is it?” he asked.
She cleared her throat. “I'm not sure. It's daylight.”
He moved and she looked up at him as he opened his eyes. He smiled down at her with his heavy eyelids just barely open.
“You've been here all this time?” He asked.
“I've had no choice. You've had a death grip on me,” she said with a twinkle in her eye.
He smiled sleepily. “I'm sorry.”
"I'm not," she answered.
“How long have you been awake?”
“Long enough to enjoy watching you sleep.”
He smiled and rubbed the back of her head. “I enjoyed that myself last night.”
“Did I fall asleep on you?” She asked raising her head off his chest to look at him.
The wonder in her eyes made him smile. “Yeah, I was singing too. I guess you got tired of that. Either that or I was boring you.”
She laughed and nudged him. “That's not true. I don't even remember falling asleep.”
“What was the last thing you remember then?”
"Some song about…about…” she was thinking but she just couldn't remember.
He laughed, “Its okay. I'm not complaining. It's an amazing experience watching you sleep. I've always enjoyed it.”
“Always enjoyed it?” She asked him catching the tone in his voice.
He squeezed his arms around her. “I've watched you sleep a few times.”
She grinned at him and leaned up to kiss him softly. “Would you like some breakfast?” She asked him.
“Not unless you are fixing something for yourself,” He answered.
She moved off of him and stood up stretching as she walked towards the kitchen. Richie laid and watched her as she made a pot of coffee. She walked back into the living room area and headed for the stairs to her bedroom when she looked over at him on the couch. “I'll be back, I'm going to take a shower and get out of these clothes.”
He nodded and she added, “I'm sorry that I don't have anything for you to change into.”
He threw up his hand. “That's okay, don't worry about it. I'll just wash my face in the bathroom down here.”
“There are towels in the closet inside the bathroom,” she called out from the top step.
Richie got up and went to the bathroom and got cleaned up. He found some toothpaste and put some on his finger and rubbed it on his teeth, then rinsed his mouth out with water. When he was done he had to call Jon so he went back out into the living room and picked up the phone. He was already late, and hoped Jon wouldn't mind he was coming in the afternoon.
Jon rolled his eyes. “Don't make this a habit.”
“Relax, I'll be there later this afternoon.”
When Ashley came back downstairs with house shoes on her feet and her hair still wet, Richie was standing at the window looking out with a cup of coffee in his hand.
“Feel better?” He asked turning around to her.
She smiled and opened the cabinet door to find a frying pan. “Yes. Feel free to take a shower if you want.”
“That's okay; I washed up in the bathroom here. I feel fine for now. I'll take a shower when I get home.”
Ashley went to the refrigerator and got everything for making an omelet out and sat it on the counter. Ham, mushrooms, cheese and onions and tomatoes, eggs and milk.
“You really don't have to make me anything to eat,” Richie said watching her cook.
She shook her head. ”And you know I like to cook, so it's no big deal.”
He smiled and turned away from the window to set down at the kitchen table. Ashley fixed herself a cup of coffee and then the phone rang.
She went to the living room to pick up the cordless off of the end table by the couch. “Hello?”
“Oh good you are up,” Doc said.
Ashley smiled at Richie and winked. It's Doc, she mouthed to him. “Yes, I'm up. What are you doing?”
“I am at the airport waiting for my car.”
“Which airport?”
“LaGuardia I just flew in this morning.” Doc answered her.
“This morning!” She sputtered.
Richie lifted his head at the urgency in her voice. She had a surprised look on her face and her eyes were opened wide.
“What's wrong Ashley?” Doc asked.
She leaned back against the counter and closed her eyes. “Nothing. I mean…well...you said next week.” She stuttered as she looked up at Richie who was had gotten up to walk over to her.
“Yeah, well I changed my schedule around. I would have called you but you weren't home last night and I hate answering machines.”
“Oh,” she answered.
“You sound preoccupied with something. Did I catch you at a bad time?” He asked hearing how tense she sounded.
She moved away from Richie and went to the window. “No, I'm fine. I'm just…making breakfast.”
“Well, I am staying at the hotel in Manhattan. I should be all checked in by noon I hope. Given that my damn car gets here. Would you be up to having lunch with me?”
She turned around to Richie. “Lunch?” She asked Doc.
Richie looked at her and mouthed Dinner. Ashley felt her nerves kick up again.
“How about dinner tonight?” She asked as she closed her eyes waiting for his answer.
“Okay, sure. Dinner it is then.”
Ashley bit her lip and tossed her hair over her shoulder with a quick movement of her head.
“I was going to have dinner with Richie tonight, is it okay if he joins us?”
Richie smiled a tight lipped smile, showing off his dimples and widened his eyes. Looks like telling Doc would be happening tonight for sure now.
“Dinner with Richie? You two seeing a lot of one another?” Doc said.
“Well, we hang out sometimes. He's teaching me how to play guitar.” She said quickly as she shrugged her shoulders at Richie.
Richie turned away from her holding his laughter in; he had to move away from her so he went into the living room and laughed.
“The guitar?” Doc laughed.
Ashley shook her head and laughed, “Don't worry; I don't want to be in a band. I am just messing around.”
Richie spun around and laughed louder then before and Ashley had to cover the phone up and she couldn't help but giggle.
“Interesting,” Doc said. “Okay, so where do you want to eat?”
Ashley drew a blank. “Call me back later on and we can decide then. Maybe I could cook.”
“Okay, I'll call you later this afternoon then.”
Ashley hung up the phone and started laughing. “He knows.”
Richie laughed. “You don't know that.”
She shook her head. “No, I am telling you he fuckin knows.”
“Well, is he mad?” Richie laughed.
“I couldn't tell.” She answered as she turned back around to the stove, flipping the omelet and turning the heat down.
“Don't worry about it. The sooner we get this out of the way the better,” he said trying to help ease her mind.
“I just don't know how to tell him. I mean should we be honest and tell him about Mexico?” She asked wide-eyed.
Richie chuckled, “Unless you want me to die, no.” He shrugged and said, “We'll just tell him we have gotten close and we are dating.”
“He's going to flip. I just know it.” She said nervously as she turned back to the stove.
“Ashley, it'll be fine. If you want, I'll tell him.”
She turned around fixing her eyes on his, “We both can tell him. I would never make you do that.”
He smiled. “I'm not as scared as you are. What can he do? Really?”
She didn't even want to think about that. “Fire you?”
He smiled and took her in his arms. “Ashley he's not going to fire me because we are dating. Jon wouldn't allow that to happen.”
“Well, he's going to be mad. I know after the way he already warned me about you and the rest of the guys.”
Richie smirked. “I still can't figure that one out.”
She laughed, “Because you sleep around,” she said pulling away from him.
“Well, things have changed,” he said pulling her arm to make her turn around.
“I don't want anyone else. I want you every night and every day,” he breathed against her cheek just before he kissed it tenderly.
She shyly moved her head to the side and smiled.
“You are so damn cute when you blush,” He said in her ear.
She laughed out loud and pushed him away. “Let me finish this omelet before I burn it.” She said.
Richie moved away from her and fixed himself another cup of coffee. After breakfast they decided to meet at her apartment and tell Doc before they went out to dinner. Richie said he would call Jon and tell him what was going on. He knew Jon would understand once he explained.

Ashley opened a bottle of wine and poured herself a glass as she got ready in her bathroom. Doc called her earlier and said he made reservations for three at Churrascaria Plataforma, his favorite steakhouse in the city.
Her clothing choice was a basic black dress that was long with quarter sleeves and a round neckline. She wore her hair up in a sexy sweep; some lose waves falling naturally around her face. The tear drop earrings she was wearing, she got from Julie as a birthday gift.
After was ready, she went downstairs to wait for Richie. She didn't have to wait long until the intercom buzzed. It was him and she already felt relaxed just knowing he was there. She smiled at him when she opened the door. He looked wonderful in the black suit with a silk black shirt under the jacket. The shirt was unbuttoned and visible was the gold Slippery emblem on a gold chain.
“Darlin,” he murmured as his lips gently touched hers. He chucked, “Drinking wine already?” He asked her as she shut the door.
She nodded her head. “I needed something to help me relax. He made reservations for Churrascaria Plataforma for dinner.”
Richie nodded. “Ahh, yes his favorite place.”
“Wine?” She offered.
He reached out for her and drew her close. “In a minute,” he said before his kissed her again.
Ashley placed her arms around his neck. The kiss was soft at first then slowly became more intense and longing. “Mmmm,” she mumbled when she pulled away from him. She smiled and gave him a short kiss on the lips before she poured his wine in a glass. “So did you tell Jon?” She asked handing him the glass of wine.
“Yeah, I had to call him. I was supposed to be in the studio this morning, but I had called him from here to tell him I'd be in this afternoon.” He stopped to laugh. “Then I had to call him back to tell him why I wasn't coming in at all.”
“Oh no,” Ashley said.
Richie shook his head. “Jon's fine. He said to give you his best.”
She tilted her head and laughed.
“So what are we telling Doc?” She asked.
Richie swallowed the sip of wine and then cleared his throat. “We have decided to explore our feelings for each other.”
Ashley's eyes grew wide. “OH MY GOD! He's going to flip!”
Richie laughed. “Well, it's the truth.”
“I know I just hope he doesn't quiz us about it,” Ashley said.
“Maybe not,” Richie answered just before the intercom buzzed.
Ashley looked at the watch on her wrist. “Why does he have to be early?” She grumbled.
She walked over to the intercom and pushed the button, “yes?”
“It's Doc.”
She threw up her hand in amazement. “Come on up.”
She turned around and rolled her eyes. “I guarantee that he's here early to quiz me about you and I.”
Richie took a drink from his glass, still he seemed relaxed. “Drink more of your wine and just remain calm.”
She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, counted to ten then took a big gulp of wine. When Doc knocked on the door, she quickly walked over and took a deep breath before she opened it.
“Hello,” Doc said as he gave her a hug. Looking past her, he was surprised to see Richie standing in the living room, drinking wine. “Come on in,” she said stepping away from him.
He walked in and gave Richie a curious smile. “Richie. How have you been?”
Richie smiled. “Just fine. How's California?”
Doc laughed. “A helluva lot warmer then this place I'll tell you that.”
“Would you like something to drink? We have some wine open.” Ashley asked as she joined them.
Doc smirked, “Wine?”
She nodded and gave him a smile. “Yes. Wine.”
He pursed his lips, “Sure. Why not? Seems everyone's drinking it and I don't want to be left out.”
When Ashley turned she gave Richie a look of helplessness. He winked at her quickly as she walked past him into the kitchen to get a glass.
“So…” Doc said folding his hands as he sat down on the couch. “How are the demos coming along Richie?”
Richie sat down in the chair opposite the couch. “We are done and going to Vancouver next week to start recording.”
Doc smiled. “Ahh… Vancouver. Debauchery again I suppose?”
Richie smiled casually but didn't answer.
Ashley joined them and poured Doc a glass of wine then handed it to him. He smiled as he took it from her. “And I hear you are doing well.”
She smiled and stepped back away from the couch. “I'm taking a break then I'll start up again next week.”
“So tell me about this guitar playing, Ashley,” Doc asked as he peered up at her.
She laughed apprehensively and tilted her head trying not to look as nervous as she was. “Well….”
“Actually, Doc she's just started,” Richie said.
Doc looked over at Richie. “Oh, I see.”
The room became awkwardly quiet.
“So, what else is new?” Doc asked taking another drink from his glass.
Ashley looked at Richie briefly and then back to Doc. “Well, since you asked. There is something I want to tell you.”
Doc watched her expression. Waiting for her reply he glanced at Richie. Something told him, somehow Richie was involved. She seemed nervous. No, it couldn't be…
Richie got out of the chair and walked over beside Ashley. Doc's expression went blank.
“Ashley and I have started dating,” Richie said to him.
Ashley felt her body become completely numb as she watched Doc, waiting for his reaction. The only thing she could feel was Richie's arm around her waist.
“You and Richie are dating?” Doc asked Ashley sharply.
She nodded her head and cleared her throat. She felt Richie's arm getting tighter around her back and it helped her from shaking so much.
“When did this come about?” Doc asked glaring up at both of them.
“Last week,” Richie answered.
Doc put his glass down and then glared up at both of them. “Just what the fuck do you think you are doing Richie?”
“It's not all Richie, Doc,” Ashley pointed out.
“You're too young to know what's going on Ashley, so yes it is Richie's fault!” Doc bellowed.
“I am old enough to make my own decisions,” Ashley snapped back. She took a deep breath to calm down. “It's not like we are getting married, we are just dating.”
Doc got up from the couch still glaring at them. “Ashley you don't realize what you are getting yourself into. I knew something like this was going to happen the way you two spent so much time together. What the fuck really happened in Mexico!”
“Doc would you just calm down so we can talk about this rationally,” Richie said.
“Fine,” Doc said in a lower tone. “What the fuck happened in Mexico?”
“We aren't talking about the past; we are talking about the present and the future,” Ashley said.
Present maybe, but there is no future with him,” Doc said as he ignored the fact that Richie was there.
“I can understand why you think that, but I promise you I'm not going to hurt her,” Richie insisted.
“Doc, you are over reacting.” Ashley said just short of tears as he stomped towards the door.
“Just tell me how I am over reacting Ashley? You are Eighteen and he's…he's twenty eight. He's in a rock and roll band and I know about his reputation and BELIEVE me, he's not a saint. Someone like you has no business getting involved with him.”
“Please try to understand. You know don't how happy he makes me,” Ashley tried once more.
Doc opened the door and looked at them both. “I don't want to know how happy he makes you.” He slammed the door closed behind him.
Ashley shook her head and turned around. Richie was right there taking her in his arms. “He'll come around sooner or later. He just needs to time to think about it all.”
Ashley rested her head against his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Guess we won't be having dinner now,” she laughed.
It didn't bother her the way Doc acted towards them, she already knew that it'd be that way.
Richie pulled away from her and held her face in his hands. “Let's go out to dinner.”
She laughed at him.
“I'm serious. We both are dressed up with no place to go now. Fuck Doc, let's go out to dinner.”
Ashley laughed wildly. “I like how you think.”
He took her by the hand and they walked to her door where he helped her with her long leather jacket. After kissing her on the cheek he opened the door and they went out to dinner together.
Ashley woke up in Richie's arms, finding that they had fallen asleep on the couch. She opened her eyes slightly. The room was full of bright orange rays from the sun coming in through the windows.
